J Man is One!!!!!!

Joseph is another one of my loyal customers.  He hired me in the womb and has remained faithful to my lens ever since.  The little guy turned one and insisted that I take his head shots even though mom wanted to take him to Portrait Innovations (hehe).  Joseph is my kind of people!

We had hoped to be at Mill Race today but there was an "event" (the nerve) so we had an impromptu session in downtown Plymouth.  I'm secretly glad we ended up there because there was a girl playing guitar and the only song she knew was "Hey Soul Sister".  So we were able to hear it twelve times.

Joseph was great!  He only fell on his head once and it didn't bleed much.  Just a bit of a bump and a few tears.  He's a tough dude.

Watch and You'll See, Someday I'll Be, Part of that World

As many of you now know, my daughter, Lydia, has a recent obsession with The Little Mermaid.  She has now permanently taken the name Ariel (all of her crafts from camp have come home with that name written on the back) and wears her costume with the mermaid fin and purple "boobies" (AKA, bikini top) each and every day.

You have to admit, it's pretty awesome to see your kid running with their vivid imagination.  I try not to discourage it.  But, sometimes, a mermaid costume that is 14 inches too long is inappropriate for grocery shopping.  Or maybe I just need to get one of my own and try it out.  I shouldn't knock it until I try it.

Anyway, I decided to do a little photo shoot with "Ariel".  She was on cloud 9 because I told her if she worked with me, then I would put her in the ocean.  That was pretty much the most magical thing she had ever heard and the poses were coming so fast I couldn't keep up!

Reya is Here!!

I'm sure you've heard that a mother's instinct is always right. Well, I can tell you that in Reya's case, this is 100% fact. As you read in my previous post about Snehal, she knew Reya would be here early and boy was she right! We are so lucky we scheduled her maternity shots when we did!

Reya is the most beautiful little girl. So small and so full of potential. I just LOVE newborns. Mom looks stunning, as always, and dad and big brother seem totally at ease. Additionally, Reya's grandparents are here from India until December to help mom adjust. How lucky is Snehal???

Oh Baby!!

Last night I had the enormous pleasure of photographing the beautiful Snehal! Snehal is expecting baby #2, a girl, in mid August, but has a pretty good feeling she'll go early, so we made sure to get this session in at least three weeks before her due date. I should note that her son is confident the baby is coming "tomorrow morning".

Snehal requested artistic images that are inspired by the beauty of the scenery as well as some more traditional maternity/family shots. I think we captured that vision quite well! Though, as you can see, she could make any scenery beautiful. She is stunning!

Welcome Baby Brody!

Today I was in Plymouth, MI, photographing a new baby boy, Brody. Brody, along with his brother and sister, welcomed me into their home and were wonderful hosts! Even Woody and Jesse came out to play for a while :)

Newborns are so, so sweet and I LOVE photographing them. Enjoy every minute of this time with him...as you know, it is so fleeting. Thank you so much for having me out today and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. Your completed slideshow will be ready soon!

Jessica is One!!!

You may remember Jessica. I've photographed her in the belly, right after birth, at 6 months old, and now at her first birthday. How can you not love these blue eyes?

Jessica and her sister, Lauren, came to the Toledo area to have their portraits taken individually and together. They did such a great job! Even got a hug from big sister.

Thanks so much for your continued support and loyalty. I look forward to watching these girls grow both behind, and in front of my lens.

My Contest Winner!

Back in May, I set up a booth at our local summer festival just to spread to word about Aunt Spray Photography. In lieu of simply handing out literature, I decided to hold a give-a-way. The named pulled out of the box received a free, full session and a cd with full printing rights...a $390 value.

Our lucky winner was Jenna. Jenna and I met up at the Botanical Gardens and she was so generous to share her prize with her two crazy cute nephews, her very good friend and her friend's family. This was such a fun shoot! Not only did I get to photograph kids, I was able to photograph FOUR GENERATIONS of beautiful women! If I look even half as good as Dorothy does when I'm 98, I will consider myself beyond lucky.

Family Night!

My aunt and uncle are visiting from Nashville for a few weeks with their family. We all met up at my grandparent's house for some casual portraits of the kids. The kids were great, especially considering there were 5 of them...all under 10! My aunt's sister also came for some portraits of her daughter with her cousins and a mother-daughter portrait. The weather was great...clear and low 70's. Much better than the hot humid nightmare it's been recently.
