The Website

http://www.auntspray.com/ We are artists! And what better way to communicate about the fabulous world of design and photography today than a blog? We will attempt to keep a casual dialogue about our current design/photography projects and anything we come across that is new, shiny and just plain awesome. Our company name is taken from the book La Cart: The Secret Lives of Grocery Shoppers (by Hillary Carlip, Barbara Green), where it is mentioned that a person actually wrote and misspelled this on their grocery list. Molly's Maternity Photos

Yesterday I had the enormous pleasure of taking maternity photos for an old friend. She is 38 weeks along and looks absolutely stunning. I'm not sure I've even seen such a perfectly round baby belly! Molly likes more artistic images, including black and whites so I tried to play with color treatments and more off-beat poses and ideas.

Molly, many more images are headed your way in a couple of days. I hope you love these! I had such a great time taking them. I can't wait to meet her!!

If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle. -Vincent Van Gogh

Hello Spring!

Well, I was right. It was a farewell to winter and a hello to spring! I had such grand plans for the day (65 and sunny) such as go to the zoo, clean my car, free some lab animals, build a school for girls..... but as luck would have it, Mallory took a longer-than-usual nap and Lydia refused to leave the house because that meant taking off her Sleeping Beauty costume. Well, we compromised. We walked to our little common area and Lydia kept her costume on with a few practical additions.

Wow, am I looking forward to more of these days. I'm so over snow and cold and lack of sunshine!!!

My Farewell to Winter

Today was warm. Not windows down, cherry slushy warm, but warm enough to go to the park and not have my contacts freeze to my eyeballs. So I went to Pearson Park and snapped some shots of random things that grabbed my attention. First up are the poor picnic tables. The tables that are usually littered with pigeon poop and Subway wrappers and sticky with juice. The tables that send you home with a souvenir in the form of a splinter in your toddler's palm. Here they are all stacked up and sad looking. I wanted to hug them, but didn't want parents to tug their kids in the opposite direction.

Next up is the phone booth. The phone booth with no phone. I understand that the booth is there as more of an artifact than a functioning communication station, but shouldn't it still have a phone in it? To be fair, it does have an instruction plaque for making an emergency call. So that's a huge help.

Finally, the flag pole. I don't care about the flag pole, really. But the looped rope caught my attention because the texture of the rope again the soft backlighting was pretty. And shiny. Oooooh something shiny!

So after I tore down and got back into to my Subaru, I realized that I would soon be driving right out of winter and into spring. Thank goodness because as much as anyone tries to sugar coat it, winter really sucks.
