The Website

http://www.auntspray.com/ We are artists! And what better way to communicate about the fabulous world of design and photography today than a blog? We will attempt to keep a casual dialogue about our current design/photography projects and anything we come across that is new, shiny and just plain awesome. Our company name is taken from the book La Cart: The Secret Lives of Grocery Shoppers (by Hillary Carlip, Barbara Green), where it is mentioned that a person actually wrote and misspelled this on their grocery list. Anyone stumbling in via RSS feeds etc...Welcome!

Out of Hibernation!

Winter is over! Winter is over!!!!!!!  As Lydia has been saying for days:  The wind told the grass and the grass told the trees.  The trees told the bushes and the bushes told the bees.  The bees told the robin and the robin said it clear, "WAKE UP WAKE UP SPRING IS HERE!!!!"

Lots of new things going on at Aunt Spray!  First is....drum roll.....the upcoming release of the book we recently illustrated, "Sissy and Me".  This book was written by Dianne M. Bassett Giehtbrock,  a mother of two young girls and a fellow Novi High School Alum.  The book explores the topic of sibling tolerance, specifically between two sisters.  The characters, modeled after her own children, are much like our children in many ways.  It made it fairly easy to relate to the story and the characters!

The book is due out in May and will be sold on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, authorhouse.com and borders.com.  Additionally, Dianne will be holding a read aloud and book signing in August 2011 in Independence, MI.  for more information on this book, visit her Facebook fan page:

Next is a new, fun thing we've been doing.  Some friends and I just started brewing our own beer so we have designed some labels!  It's a great way to personalize your home brews!  For more information on any of our design services, please send us an email!  If it's in your head, we'll get it on paper!

On the photography side of things.....I will be attending another workshop in a couple of weeks.  Be on the lookout for some urban drama!  So excited to get back out there and make some art!  Sessions are filling up quickly so be sure to contact us ASAP to book your spring/summer sessions.  May is already full!

I know the liquids posts fell flat.  I stopped after day 23, but for good reason.  It's been a crazy time for us. Things are starting to calm down, though.  So if you've been commenting on the blog, please take a peek through the 23 days.  If you see your name somewhere, send me a note!
